Salon Furnishings

Designed for Success
- Opening or renovating a salon?
- Sit down with the experts at Maly's Salon & Spa Furnishings Department.

In today’s fast-paced world, clients view the salon as a sanctuary. Many seek a relaxing environment to escape from the real world for an hour or two. Providing a welcoming haven can make a true bottom line difference for your business. In fact, a survey published in American Salon’s 2006 Green Book found that 83 percent of women said their salon’s appearance was important to them and a reason they kept coming back.

Opening a new salon, renovating an existing location or simply updating your space can be a daunting experience. But you don’t have to go it alone. Maly’s Salon and Spa Furnishings Department can help you every step of the way. From a site inspection and floor plan to furnishings selection and financing, your Maly’s Equipment Pro will be with you from the first meeting until the end of the project.

"I guide salon owners from their wish lists of services to their available space", says David Seacrest, a Maly's Equipment Pro with 35 years of experience. "I help make sure they have everything in place to work efficiently on Saturday at 11 a.m."

Last year when Ludmila Svanyuta decided to open a new salon in Roseville, CA, she turned to Maly’s for input on key decisions. Ludmila had already picked a prime location when she met David Seacrest. David looked at Ludmila’s floor plan, gave her design suggestions, helped with plumbing and electrical requirements, consulted on furnishing selections and worked with her right up to the launch of the salon. "After looking at my plans, David suggested that I open up some space between the walls and ceiling for a more airy feeling", says Ludmila. "The end result is awesome and very welcoming. My clients and stylists love it"

The salon, Beauty Secrets Salon and Day Spa, uses a combination of furnishings from Belvedere and Kaemark to create its fresh contemporary look. The reception desk and stations are from Belvedere and the retail displays and stylist chairs are from Kaemark. The salon also features the Belvedere Nile Backwash System, a free-standing pedestal with a pivoting cast iron porcelain bowl. "Stylists stand behind the bowl and it is so much easier on their backs because they don’t have to twist or bend over the customer", says David. "The bowl is also about five inches higher so the customer doesn’t have to bend back so far. About 90 percent of the new salons I work with want these systems."

Retail sales play an important role at Beauty Secrets Salon and Day Spa. "Because retail can run anywhere from 20 to 30 percent at a salon", says David, "it’s very important to make sure there is plenty of product space and shelving." At Ludmila’s salon, two large, five-shelf displays stocked with Maly’s products are prominently featured in the front windows. The displays sell product both inside and outside the salon. "People passing by the windows see the products and want to come in and check them out", says Ludmila. "The clients are buying, too."

According to David, Beauty Secrets Salon and Day Spa opened in about three months from the first meeting because Ludmila had committed to a location and had a great contractor. "The salon design projects I work on take from 90 days to a year, but it’s usually a 12 to 16 week process", he says. "It can go quickly if the owner has the space. Furniture orders can take four to eight weeks."

Whether you’re contemplating a build-out or a facelift, working with a professional as you invest in your business will save you time, money and heartache. With more than 60 years of combined experience, Maly’s Equipment Pros are here to help you from concept to completion.
