SUMMER IS A GREAT TIME TO EDUCATE CLIENTS ON SUNCARE AND OFFER PRODUCTS TO GIVE THEM A HEALTHY GLOW YEAR ROUND.

Does your salon slow down during the summer months? Whether your clients are vacationing or just busy spending more time outdoors, they likely need your expertise now more than ever. Sun, chlorine from pools, salt from the ocean and wind can all wreak havoc on hair and skin. With the right mix of retail products and services, you’ll be ready to keep clients looking and feeling great through summer and into fall.

HAIR HELPERS

You may already be seeing dry, dull brittle hair, split ends, frizz, limp locks and brassy or faded color. Most clients know to use sunscreen on their skin, but they may not be as savvy about protecting their hair from UV rays. Educate them on pre-sun products that contain sunscreens to block UV rays and protect haircolor, hair and the scalp. Also, let clients know about after-sun products designed to nourish stressed, dry and porous hair. UVB rays cause sunburn but UVA rays penetrate the skin more deeply causing the damage that results in aging and skin cancer. Advise clients to generously apply the sunscreen 30 minutes before going outside and not to forget the tips of the ears, nose and lips. For those clients going for the glow, self-tanners and bronzers offer easy and safe alternatives to the sun. You can also add self-tanning services to your menu, providing clients with the option to always look like they just returned from vacation.

The second session is a tanning application and the last session is a tanning application and sealer. Express Self-Tanning Treatments that include only the application of the tanning lotion. Spa 415 in Los Angeles charges $80 for this 45 minute service.
